Rodney J Best grew up and lived in Beaver, Pennsylvania which is known for Fort Mcintosh. Pennsylvania provided the war with over 900,000 troops to serve in the armed forces as well as being the leader producer of coal and steel. During the war Pennsylvania produced 19.3 billion dollars worth of munitions including 52 million shells, 1.7 million bombs, and 2.3 million pounds worth of chemicals for explosives. While it is unknown how many vehicles Pennsylvania produced during the war, it did produce over 31% of America's steel and 20% of worldwide steel production. Throughout this period Pennsylvania farmers were able to switch to combustion engine allowing a bigger yield at harvest, they mainly grew crops such as corn and tomatoes.
Recruitment Centers
While the number of recruitment centers in America during WW2 is unknown, Pennsylvania was able to supply around 1.25 million service people from the start to the end of the war. Pennsylvania was also home to over 40 military bases during the WW2 era.
